Kirchner Museum
The famous German expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner stayed in Davos from 1917 until 1938.  He first lived up on the Stafelalp, later at the ‘House in the Larches’ in Davos, Frauenkirch.  After that and up to the time he took his own life, he lived in the house in Wildboden.  The specially built Kirchner Museum was opened in 1992 and shows the most extensive worldwide collection of his works.  The museum building itself in its elegant simplicity is the work of the Zurich architects Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer and is well-acclaimed in the international architectural scene.

Hours of opening: open all the year round Tuesday to Sunday:              
Christmas  - Easter and 15^th July  -  30^th September  10.00  -  18.00

All other times from 14.00  -  18.00

Local Heritage Museum
The local heritage museum has an extensive collection of old Davos household articles and documents, which are exhibited in an old venerable Patrician house.  Now and again there are also special exhibitions on show.

Winter Sport Museum
Every conceivable piece of winter sport’s equipment from ski-wax to ski poles, ice skates, and even bobs from the early days right up to the present day can be viewed in the old post building in Davos.  This extensive collection has been donated by the family of Jürg Kaufmann.  Above all the original articles of clothing, actually used by the winter sports pioneers, are well worth taking a look at.

Toy Museum
Significant art-historical toys, technical toys, all types of dolls, dolls houses as well as miniatures from the 18^th until 20^th century can be admired on the two floors of this toy museum.  A highlight is the miniature model of the “Berghof Sanatorium” from Thomas Mann`s famous Davos novel, “The Magic Mountain”.  Special annual exhibitions. Museum café and museum shop.

Mining Museum Graubünden/Show Mine at Silberberg
In the historical administration building of the former mining settlement Schmelzboden-Hoffnungsau, built in the 19^th  century, one can admire hundreds of exhibits to do with mining, models, documents, plans and photographs of earlier workings from all over the canton.  Particularly impressive are the calcit and rock crystal exhibitions.

Davos Town Hall
One would never think that the Town Hall, situated just below the Postplatz with its somewhat austere façade, would harbour such treasures deep inside.  The Great Room from 16^th century, with its artistic wood carvings, extravagant intarsia and colourful stained glass windows was once the meeting place of the Zehngerichtebund,  legal alliance of the neighbouring courts. It is unique in the region and well worth a visit.

Walser Settlements
While Davos itself tends to create an urban atmosphere, many of the smaller villages (Fraktionen) have retained their rural character. Wolfgang, Laret, Glaris and Monstein simply have to be visited.  Here one can still find the genuine Walser houses, romantic chapels and old farmhouses traditionally decorated with flowers.  A real jewel is the hamlet Monstein with its ancient wooden houses, which in some cases are still roofed with the larch shingles.  Then there is the almost 350 year old barn where the grain was stored; built on stilts as a protection against the mice.  Probably the most magnificent and well-preserved Walser house is actually the Oberst-von-Sprecher-Haus.  However, it is not in Monstein but in Wolfgang, between the canton road and the lake.  Not to be missed is the little Walser settlement Spina, a 20 minutes walk from Glaris.  From this sunny spot you have a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside.
